CEP’s Paula Orr is presenting at the 2015 British Sociological Association Conference

Based on CEP’s work evaluating the Flood Resilience Community Pathfinders, Paula Orr is presenting on ‘Defining and Measuring Community Resilience to Climate Change: The Case of Flood Risk’ at the 2015 British Sociological Association Conference.

The Conference is held in Glasgow Caledonian University on the 15 – 17th of April (1515 on Friday).

CEP wins Defra contract on evaluation of flood risk management plans and schemes

Enhancing ex-post evaluation of flood and coastal erosion risk management plans and schemes

CEP with our partners HR Wallingford, Middlesex University and Ruth Johnston have been appointed by the UK Department for the Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) to undertake a research project exploring ex-post evaluation of flood and coastal erosion risk management plans and schemes.

This project builds on CEP’s evaluation and flood risk management experience.

Dr Clare Twigger-Ross is CEP’s lead for the project.

CEP build on public dialogue experience

A two way Conversation with the people of Scotland on the Social Impact of Offshore Renewables

CEP are leading a team consisting of Pidgin Perfect and Nereus Environmental to undertake a public dialogue project for Marine Scotland. This project involves designing, delivering and reporting on dialogue events across Scotland’s coast that allow Marine Scotland to engage with and explore communities perception of offshore renewables.

The project also includes training and capacity building to support Marine Scotland in any future dialogue events.

CEP leads EU project on public perception of environmental risks

Public Perception of Environmental Risks

CEP (with University of A Coruña, University of Latvia, Oikos, Sapienza University of Rome and West University of Timisoara) has been commissioned by DG Environment (European Commission) to conduct research on the Public Perception of Environmental Risks.

This ambitious, Europe wide project involves multiple surveys of experts in Member States to understand how environmental risks are perceived and how this might influence policy and evidence priorities within DG Environment.

Health and Social Benefits of Nature and Biodiversity Protection

CEP are part of an Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP) led project for the European Commission (DG Environment). Other partners include Milieu, LUKE, ICLEI, WWF Germany and Rudolf de Groot.

This project builds on previous CEP work for the European Commission and research exploring the benefits of the natural environment. A one-page summary of the research is available here.

Jonathan Baker appointed Policy Evaluation Research Fellow with Defra

Fellowship to provide support and promote policy evaluation in Defra

CEP’s Jonathan Baker will be working on a nine-month fellowship project with the UK Department for Food, Environment and Rural Affairs (Defra) on understanding and improving policy evaluation within the Department.

This builds on CEP’s experience of undertaking a number of policy evaluations for Defra and others.  Dr William Sheate (Project Director) and Dr Clare Twigger-Ross are also involved in providing expert advice.
